Moo's Ballet concert 2012 - Magical Toy Shop

Today is the day, time for the Magical Toy Shop performance!

Tickets ready, ballet bag ready we are set! After picking up moo from her dads house driving into the city and not finding a car park and now running late, moo and I jump out the car and run for the dressing rooms.

Miss Lily my miss 2, was asked to dance too but i couldn't fathom getting her ready and moo too, it would be just an impossible task, maybe next year, (when she listens a bit more, yeah right do they ever!)

We find her room kids every where, parents every where, I start by brushing the knots out of her hair that dad obviously didn't brush when he put her hair up, and start on the task of perfect ballet hair. ahhh!

We did it! We got it done, time to get the dress on, oh noooo........ we left he T.Shirt on, carefully over the head it goes, tights on, dress on and hat pinned in and necklace on, last minute rosy cheeks and it time to stand in line and kiss mum goodbye.

She was the perfect winter wonderland doll!

GOOD LUCK MOO MOO!!!

So proud of my baby already and I hadn't seen her dance yet.

What can I say they where beautiful all of them! I wish I could post a video of them dancing they where just all sooo very cute. Moo had a fantastic time and cant wait for parent watching week to show the rest of her dancing.

I was so proud of her!

A massive thank you to Miss Bianca and all staff at BeBe Ballet!

Amelia's 6th Birthday - Mermaid Theme

From the time Moo was in kindergarten she was instant that when she grows up she is going to be a mermaid! She even had a disagreement with the kinda teacher that mermaids are not real and they are not a job, well she was out to prove her wrong! I also disagreed with the teacher, mumbling under my breath to moo that its OK, she can be a mermaid if she likes! So to help her with her dream of becoming a mermaid, we thought it be fitting for a mermaid party.

I printed mermaid invites around 10, and found my self printing more as Moo said she lost them, next thing you know her whole class turns up for the party. Cheeky monkey. We took the kids to the swimming center, and I arrived there early to steal a few tables and chairs.

Balloons from spotlight, taller than her!!

Personalised mermaid embroidered t shit from a eBay store (but for the life of me cant remember the name) and the tutu from an eBay store (Amedahk) link below:

Mermaid cake from Oh So Sweet

My Miss 2 and Mr 9 having a blast at the swimming center

and my bubs gave being a mermaid a go too.

I ordered 2 platters of subway but should have got more, the kids demolished them in seconds. It was a fantastic day, so much fun watching the kids splash about, I would recommend the  South Australia Aquatic & Leisure Centre (http://www.saaquatic.ymca.org.au/) for birthdays and just for fun!!

Seriously where does the time go, 6 when did she get there! Growing way too fast!

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY MISSY MOO!!!

Cup Cake Basics

After a late start to the morning, dropping Mr 9 off at basketball training at 8am, and miss moo off at her Nanny's house (who very kindly accepted the huge favor of taking her to dress rehearsals for her ballet concert next week) I finally arrived for my cup cake decorating course .http://www.thecupcakelady.com.au/
Soooo excited!! and apprehensive all at the same time.

I dragged my sister along (she is proficient in this so just for fun and company for me), we sat down at a bench for 2 and got straight into it making fondant flowers, once the nerves settled I enjoyed it immensely. Playing with the fondant was just like playing with the kids playdoh making all sorts of shapes using cutters and little plastic knives, it was fun.

We made a daisy flower, a snail with mushroom, used moulds, made strawberries, ruffle flower and Freddie the frog all out of fondant for the butter cream cakes.
Next we made fondant covered cup cakes, a bow, a quilted cup cake, lady bird and tried some embossing.

Then came out the butter cream, cringe! Ive never used a piping bag or mixed butter cream before, one thing i did learn about myself that i suck at icing cakes with my right hand, so left it was, much better result.

TuDAA my finished cup cakes, all in a days work (not really work it was so much fun)

Cake Decorating Course

So for along time now, I haven't been any good at decorating cakes and I have had my amazing sister create the kids birthday cakes on a brief i had given her. But although they are amazing i feel I'm missing out, so time to take action! Cake decorating course it is for me. This week end hosted by the cup cake lady www.thecupcakelady.com.au (check out her FB page, amazing I wish I was her!) I've enrolled, apron bought and creative thinking caps on, I'm going to give it a crack!

Miss Moo's 5th Birthday - Princess Theme

My amazing Miss Moo turned 5! The big 5! School age! ohh my baby is no longer my baby and is going to school. I wanted it to be amazing for her, she requested that because she is a princess she should have a princess party. So here goes I hope I can remember where I got all the bits and pieces from.

Setting the table. I used a pink and white theme as my base colours and built on it from there. The white table cloth you can get from Reject Shop, Big W, Kmart. I used the plastic extra large ones, these are wipe able and i can use them again. The lolly jars are from Target, but they are glass. The plates, goodie bags and balloons I purchased on line from www.thepetitepartycompany.com.au, I love their web site so many cute things I want to buy them all.

I filled the take home lolly box's with bubbles, pen, balloons and a few small wrapped lollies.

The little fairy tent was from the Reject Shop but I have seen others in Kmart.
The pompoms are from www.thepetitepartycompany.com.au/c/288664/1/lanterns.
I really am in love with this shop!

My girls i am bias but the are pretty cute!

Amelia's embroidered top and tutu came from an eBay store (Amedahk)

The cake before, made by my sister (Oh So Sweet) ohso.sweet.5@facebook.com
One day ill be able to make this!

The cake after.
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY Miss Moo

Tools of the Trade

Keeping this house on time and organised is hard work, our schedule is jam packed, I have a personal diary which is my life saver, without this little book I really wouldn't know what we are meant to be doing on a day to day basis. We have a white board ruled out for 2 weeks with everything in blue that doesn't really change much e.g. kids sport training sessions and ballet times. In the red are appointments and sport game times, so at a quick glance as you're passing by the red catches your eye for a quick reminder.

Lots of people ask "how do you do it? Working and 5 kids?"
Let me start by saying it really is a team effort, the kids know that they have to go to school everyday and their routine for the start and end of the day, (usually constant reminders for the boys). It does get a lot easier once the kids can dress themselves. Having the clothes out on the end of the bed the night before helps too.
When the kids where younger I used a picture chart in their room on what clothes to put on first, and one on the fridge for breakfast and getting ready. I found this helped alot.

A quick rundown of my week

Monday - Cleaning day. By Monday morning the house is a bomb site, there are dishes everywhere, clothes to be washed beds to be stripped and remade, so for the best part of this day I'm cleaning! we might get to the park if the babies are lucky. In the afternoon my 9 year old has scouts, in this hour and a half of being 1 down and babies in bed, I make 30 or so school lunches ready to freeze. (ham, ham and cheese, roast meat, fritz and sauce etc) with the help of Miss Moo of course. It really is a production line.

Tuesday - Miss 2 has ballet in the AM, the afternoon Miss Moo has ballet and Mr 9 has basketball training at the same time in different places, it's a  juggling act alright!

Wednesday - I used to work this day but have decided that it's costing me more to have the babies in care than it is me working. So for the morning now is usually filled with appts, shopping and cleaning again.

Thursday - PAY DAY yay! Morning we are paying bills and usually food shopping, in the afternoon the boys have basketball games again at different times, but this time in the same place. Usually Mr 9 has a game after school and Mr 13's game is at some ridiculous time at 5.30pm. So the poor babies are stuck in the car from 3pm then in the pusher till at least 6pm. (snacks are a MUST)!! Then if hubby and I arn't exhausted enough we go late night shopping as a family.

Friday - I'm Working, out of the house by 8am (id like 7.45am but that never happens) drop the older kids at before school care, babies off at childcare, then drive to work! Work till 5pm sometimes later, drive home, pick kids up from after school care and babies from childcare, cook dinner, feed kids, bath and bed. Few is that the week finished, noooo there is more!

Saturday- I work this day too. It's an all day shift, so hubby is home alone with 5 kids sometimes 6. He drives the kids around to their sport all day and carts the babies here there and everywhere.
We cook dinner together, clean up together and chat while we are doing it. This is our alone time, humm fun! (on the odd occasion we do get to have date night)

Sunday - Day of cleaning once again, kids everywhere, usually we try to do something with the kids, skate park, park for the babies, the beach or just out the back cleaning up and watching the kids play. (most of the time cleaning doesn't get done and why Monday cleaning is important)

And in between all that there are play dates and other kids birthday parties to go to, appointments for myself and or the kids! I really wish I had enough time to go to the school and do reading or take the babies to the park more often, or join a play group for miss 2, or catch up with friends or even see family! ( I miss my friends and my family! And a dishwasher!)

But this is why we have family and kids, if we didn't love running around after them like headless chooks we wouldn't do it. I love doing all this for my kids and I know one day, they will appreciate it all.

Well, in a nut shell that's how we do it in our house!

Miss Lily's 2nd Birthday - Hoot

My little miss Lily turned 2! OMG seriously where has this time gone, i know its a saying but between working and being mum i really don't know how she got to turning 2! Anyway, Miss Lily Grace is totally and utterly obsessed with anything to do with Giggle and Hoot! So Giggle and Hoot party it is!!

The top cake and the cupcakes made by my sister (oh so sweet ohso.sweet.5@facebook.com)
The 3 tiered cup cake stand are actually 3 different sizes stacked on top of each other and cable tied all together.

The balloons i bought from spotlight in the SPARTYS section, and the orange and blue cups and table cloth.

The cake! The master piece!
(see those little flowers, i am going to learn how to do those one day!)
The Hoot topper is made out of edible fondant (a big lump of sugar), and the little orange flowers too, the icing is butter cream icing (lactose free, we are all lactose intolerant) and the cake is vanilla cake. It was sooo yummy.

The Hoot topper i bought on line from an eBay store,
(who is no longer a registered user but there are lots of others on line and available)

My Little LILY turning 2!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!!

Starting up

My 1st real post! yay!
Firstly i like to thank Google for making this sooooo easy, I had always wanted to start blogging but it scared me! Frankly computers and any change scare me, but they are here so I better get used to it, even my 2 year old knows how to work a computer better than I do!
I would also like to apologise in advance for boring you already until i learn to use all the features, but I'm excited anyway that I've made it this far! hehe!!

Yes, I'm old fashioned!
So even though ive used the computer, my Iphone and have various other media storage devises in this house I still felt it was necessary to write things down with good old fashioned pen and paper, headings and sub headings, my ideas and grand plans.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog!

I have decided its time to join the blogging community!
A little about me, I am a working mum of 5 children. I work part time as a Dental Assistant and my children range from 13 to 10 months. I have decided to start blogging because my partner is tired of listing to my ideas and "i'm gona" so I am doing now.
I love organising my kids birthday parties, I am obsessed (hubby thinks is an understatement) with taking photos, I am very house proud I just wish my house was tidy and clean and no mess( but thats not going to happen with 5 kids). Like every girl I love dressing up, out for dinner and drinks, but at the same time don't mind hard work and getting dirty.
I hope I don't bore you with my ideas and all my grand plans!
Thank you for visiting.
